Message Many fuel system cleaners contain solvents that were harnful to the older style pintle injector. The newer style injectors are pintleless which makes them more durable to the said solvents. I'm not saying the new style is impervious to the solvents but they will last longer compared to the older style. Main thing everyone should worry about are the ingredients in the cleaners.

I've used Redline in my 92TT for years and it's never given me any problems. I also know some others that use Amsoil without any problems.

When people complain about their injectors going bad, most of the time they neglect to take into account the age of the car and it's easier to blame it on the cleaner.

My 92TT racked up 102K miles when it tossed it's first (old style) injector in 2002 (which incidentally prevented me from going to San Antonio for ZCON). Considering I ran the Redline cleaner for 5 years and about 35K, I'd say the injectors lasted pretty well.
